The hair color dye doesn't show?!?

Let's say that I have black/dark brownish hair and I highlighted my hair medium brown (clairol) since today. I'm just wondering am I suppose to wait till the color shows tomorrow or am I using a product that can't be seen?

if you dyed your hair the blackish brown than the hight wont come up becuse the hightlight color wont lift the color from before, you need to bleach the hights to strip the color from before than but the color highlights you want in your hair, that would be the only reason they didnt show.

the color would show as soon as you rinsed your hair. You probably used a product that was semi-permanent. This means you can only go darker, not lighter, so you just wasted your money

If you used a color that has no lift to it you will not be able to see it. When ever you want to make your hair lighter you will have to use a permanent color for it to work semi-permanent colors will not lift you hair.

the color you chose is probably too dark for your hair color...it should show as soon as you wash the hair dye out...you may need to get a lighter shade or bleach the parts you want to dye first and then apply the color you want....this happens to my mom and me because we have naturally black hair

Wait until tomorrow and one shampoo. If the color isn't showing up lighter than the base color, then yes it blended in.My advice is when you're trying to get highlights on dark hair, use a blonde shade that is beige or ash in tone so you don't get an orangish-red color or a golden color if you want orange or reddish tones. And don't leave it on for the 20-25 minutes like the directions tell you.You should do a strand test first and check it every 5 minutes by wiping it with a wet paper towel and holding it in the light and compare it to your base color on your hair. Then dry it off and put it back in the dye if desired color is not achieved up to 20 minutes. When desired color is achieved, write it down then you can dye your hair. For highlights, I've always found that black to dark brown base colors should use a light brown to dark or medium blonde shade (ash for unwanted orange-red tones, and yellow blonde or medium auburn for reddish tones), medium to light brown base colors should use a medium to light blonde shade (ash or beige for unwanted orange-red tones, yellow or golden blonde or light auburn for reddish tones) and light brown to dark and medium blonde color base should use light blonde shade (ash for unwanted orange-red tones, and gold or strawberry blonde for reddish tones). And light blonde base color should use ultra light blonde shade.Don't forget to condition everyday.Hope this helps. :)
