How can I make a temporary hair color show up on my jet black hair?

I need to dye my hair a bright orange color for a costume party, and i bought temporary neon-red hair dye (that comes in a can), but when I sprayed it on, it made no difference in my black hair color. Any suggestions?

The stuff from costume shops and beauty supply stores do work. I've done it. Silver, red, etc... had to do it for Halloween and it showed up on my jet black hair. But you need to find out from the store if it's an opaque spray on or a tint. Tints don't work. The 'coverall' opaque ones do - and they work on every color hair.

Good luck.

sprays DONT work. get a box and keep it on for a few extra minutes.

Sadly you have to bleach it somewhere. There are some temp colors that may show up a little like the L'oreal mousse, or you could use the spray on halloween stuff that paints your head with thick nasty goop, but that is about all. I too have jet black hair and I bleached out an area that I color.

i don't know if this will work... but manic panic makes a hair gel that is also like a color... and it washes right out. try that.

you need to strip the black out of your hair first.

I've boughten spray on hair color that worked on my dyed black hair before. Not sure which brand you tried. Realistically, it's very difficult to have color show up on black hair... you'd probably have to end up bleaching or lightening your hair first. I'd recommend just wearing a wig.

Try Color Pulse By Loreal. It worked wonders on my friends black hair and my blonde hair. It lasts 8-10 washes so if you don't like it, just wash it alot. Hope that helps.

Hi

Dyes wont work on your hair temperally. However SOME spray on cans will show up on your hair. It will look very crutchy thou and not like natural hair as its basically spray on paint! You will just need to try various brands until you find one that suits as I dont unfortuatly know the name of the one that worked on my black hair.

The only other option would be to use bleach - however this is a very perminate solution and by no means temp!

Or you could get a wig! You can get some very good but fairly cheap wigs from ebay. Might be worth a look!

Go for red or burgundy shades, they might give your hair a red tint, but i doubt that they might change it completely. The only choice i see is to buy the party spray-on hair color, as it's not a permanent hair colr it just covers your hair with tempopary kind of paint, you might spray it on as highlights -that would look great too, and it rinses off with your first shampooing-so no worries. You can find it at any party supply store .Good luck and have fun on your party!;)

Spend $20 on a cheap wig. The alternative is not worth it for one night.

Hello.

Being that I will be attending the same party, along with you, and that i am travelling all the way from London to be there, i expect your hair will be Ronald Weasley red. Now, i suggest you spray your hair a white or extremely light colour. Then, just spray on the red one. (Don't worry I'll help.) Or the suggestions, made by these other people will probably work better, but mine is always worth a try. Anyway, good luck, and I cannot believe you tried it on your hair without telling me first.

:)
