How to do hair for Western horse show?

What's the correct way to style your hair for western horse shows (I'll be competing in horsemanship, pleasure, and trail if that helps any)? I'm an English rider making the change and this is my first show--do I put it in a net and under my hat like in English? Is it more acceptable to wear in it a ponytail/french braid/bun? HELP!

I like to leave mine long, but you can also try braided pigtails

I've shown many times and depending on the length of a lady's hair and her costom, your hair is as important too. I would choose a french braid for the horsemanship then a pony tail for the western pleasure. The judges aren't going to be looking so close to your hair as they will your horse and how you and him/her work together. They are interested in what the horse does more than you. Good luck, hope you get first place!!

You can put it up in bun, pony tail or pigtails...better to have it up

you can wear you hair any way you'd like as long as you have a western hat on your head. I wouldn't put in a net as I think they sorta look stupid, but if thats what you are comfortable in then go for it. Most people just pull it back in a pony tail so it doesnt get in their face.

I show halter, and I always like to keep mine as neat as possible. I have hair that is mid-back length and very wavy. I usually clip it in a black bow barrette, and let it hang loose down my back under my hat, but for very formal shows, I use one of the "Snoods" that is a hair net attached to a barrette. I just think it looks neater. You can see one at http://www.statelinetack.com/global/prod... ,

or you can use one of your English hair nets, and a barrette.

French braids are acceptable and usually fit under a hat well. Just remember to keep your hair off your face and SMILE!!

NO don't put it in I leave it long or but it in braided pigtails, Also but it in a bun and put it in one of these they have them in all colors so it matches your outfit. http://www.rods.com/p/1039,302_Sparkling...

I love them and it makes them look a lot neater, You will see some people with ponytails. I show breed shows and at the two judges I put in a fake ponytail to make my hair a little longer not much but just a little. Then at the four judge shows and the world show I put it in a hair bun.
