do roots only and then when the hair is dried from the coloring you can do the highlights

the way to help it not dry out is to do roots only

the only thing that will help dry brittle hair is to cut it off

use a conditioner every day, this will help soften it

depends on your hair texture on what type of hair conditioner you need
