I have a black cat, I want to give him a hot pink mohawk; how can I lighten his hair so it will show

Now, I know alot of people disagree with coloring an animal's fur; but really that's your opinion, please don't respond unless you actually have an answer to my question and you're not just voiceing your opinion against what I do.

I own a solid black cat , Eclipse, and he has alot of personality; he wears a spiked collar with a skull and crossbone name-tag, and often times he wears a leather jacket with a fish skeleton in rinestones on the back. I feel it would really complete his look (he competes in cool cat contests) if he had a hot pink stripe down the back of his head, kinda like a mohawk. My problem is that since he is a black cat; manic panic, chalk, food coloring, and petsilk don't stay in his hair. The only pet salon's that I can find around don't color pet hair; which is ok because I was raised on a petting zoo so I'm used to doing everything for my animals. So, my question is this: does anyone know how I can lighten his hair so that the color will show up?

Eek that's a tough one. I have a black cat too (actually they look black but are really dark chocolate brown). Because all the chemicals out there are for human hair I would think they would be very bad for the cat's skin (also hair is usually much shorter on a cat). Have you thought about just finding a hot pink spray instead? You might run the risk of burning the cat's skin otherwise.

Maybe the way to go is some kind of little fur hat that looks like a mohawk. Dyed rabbit fur might work.

Honestly, any product that would lighten his hair also runs a very high risk of harming him.

I don't disagree with colouring your pet's fur.. IF it can be done with food colouring or all natural plant based dyes.

This is NOT the case with a black cat. There is nothing you can use to lighten his fur that doesn't stand a great chance of causing him injury.

Oh my god, get a life and stop putting your cat through all of that retarded crap

My answer to your question is that you're an idiot. You shouldn't have a cat or for that matter any animal. You are heartless, brainless and just plain stupid to even think of doing that to your cat.

edit: whoops, I just realized that you tried manic panic. Sorry, but maybe if you write them they can help

I would have to agree with another person responding to your question...I don't know of any, but it would have to be something without chemicals so that it is SAFE for your cat...and to lighten it's hair w/o chemicals is impossible. Anything else probably wouldn't be safe for the animal....

Now that is just stupid to do something like that to a cat. I will have to echo other people who answered this question-- if you are reallly going to try it then at least use SAFE color dyes or whatever you are doing. Chemicals can harm a cat's fur and if you want to put your cat through torture.. then well, you are a complete lunatic really.

seriously honey cats are not toys and should not be dressed up like dolls and be given hair dos

if you seriously want to do something like that then get a barbie or something because that is just cruelt to do to an animal!!

i have been raised on a farm around all animals but to dye their fur is out there,it;s not good for their skin to have all the chemicals on them and why make them suffer just cause you think it will look COOL,., get a teddy bear and dye his hair ....

i wouldnt colour his fur, if i was you, whatever you use could be potentially harmful to your cat

maybe you can find something that you can put on his head so it LOOKS like he has a hot pink mohawk?
