i have dark brown hair and wanted to add a few streaks of color like blue or red, will it show up in my hair? by the way its called beyond the zone color jamz from sally beauty supply.......

The colors are pigmets, which just color over your exsisting color (unlike dye which lifts your current color and then deposits the wanted one).

You will have to lighten your hair first. The lighter the better. Ask teh sales person at Sally's and they will help you.

if your hairs really dark... you might have to bleach out the streaks first.... then colour..

i tried doing my dark hair purple... and all it is is a dark dark brown with it turning purple when i stand in the sun...

plus... i don't reccomend that you try bleach at home... if it goes wrong... it's disastrous!!!

so invest in the beautician?? i k now it costs... but if you do something wierd... it'll cost you far far more....

I recommend using Loreal Couleur Rays. I have black/dark brown asian hair and this product was wonderful.

They have colors like blue, red, purple. (The ones that really pop)

They're about 10 dollars each.

I loved it when I used it. =]

The only con is that the color will wash out in about a month or two.

Hey girl! Sounds like it will look awesome in your hair! I love dark hair with funky streaks! The girls are right though. I'm a stylist with 13yrs experience and you are going to have to lighten it. Your best bet is to have a salon do the chunky blonde highlights(tell them what you plan to do so they can help you decide where to place them) and then do the Zone color by yourself. Just try to place the zone color on just the blonde. If you get it on your dark hair-don't worry it won't really show up. You may want to inlist the help of a friend to help you apply the color to the blonde. I can't imagine trying to do that part myself, but it can be done. Good luck!
