My hair tends to grow very fast. I can't afford to go have it trimmed every 6 weeks. So I would like to learn to trim it myself. Thank you
Would you be so kind as to give me a link to a site that will show me how to trim my own hair?

Please take my advice, I understand your situation, but you don't always have to go every 6 weeks to get it cut and doing it yourself might cause bigger problems in the long run. What if you were doing a great job just trimming and all of a sudden something startles you and you cut off a big chunk. Will you really be satisfied? I don't think so and then the alternative would be that you might have to shave your head. As a hairstylist I see these things happen all the time. If you can't go very often, then my recommendation is that when you do go, have them take off all the splits and then you won't have to go so often. I know that some people are very finicky with their hair and that you can't trust all hairdressers, but say you have 2 inches of splits and want a trim(which to me a trim is 1/4 of an inch), chances are that your splits will still continue to travel up the hairshaft and when it does reach your scalp, you will think that you should have listened to the hairdresser and than you would probably want to start over. Even I myself will only trim my bangs, but the rest of my hair I get trimmed every 3 months. If your hair is in good condition and you use conditioner(all soft by redken is great) everytime you shampoo, you should be able to get away with every 3-5 months. However, if your hair has a lot of splits, get them cut off before its toooooo late and then go with 3-5 months.
